Are you due for your pill review?  Your safety and wellbeing is our top priority. All patients who are on the contraceptive pill need to have a review after the first 3 months of use and every 12 months thereafter.

To make pill checks more convenient for women at Granta Medical Practices, we have reviewed our prescribing and monitoring of the contraceptive pill, in line with guidance of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health.

If you can reply “yes” to all of the following, you can choose to undertake your annual pill check by means of an online questionnaire, rather than attending a face to face appointment:

  • You are currently taking a contraceptive pill.
  • Your current pill has been prescribed in the last 6 months by Granta Medical Practices.
  • You are happy with your current contraception.
  • You wish to continue taking your current pill.
  • You are able to submit a recent blood pressure reading and weight to us (both within last four weeks).

If the answer to any of the above is “no”, please contact reception to book an appointment with one of our nursing team.

If the answer to all of the above is “yes”, in order to complete the online questionnaire, you will need to log into your SystmOnline account via our practice website.  If you need your login details for this, please contact reception.

Once you have submitted the completed questionnaire and if no concerns are identified following review of the questionnaire, your repeat prescription will be re-authorised by our Clinical Pharmacist team, within 3 working days. If you need to be seen, the Clinical Pharmacists will ask you to contact reception to arrange an appointment that is convenient for you.

Patients are advised to seek advice between planned visits if they have any concerns or develop major illness, migraine (or worsening thereof), take new medication or if a first degree relative (sibling or parent) develops cardiovascular / thromboembolic disease before age 45 or breast cancer.
